KAKE TONU TE ARO

EVER UPWARDS TE ARO

Te Aro School is a vibrant, inclusive, multicultural full primary school with approximately 220 children from over 36 countries and a strong community presence dating back to 1854. We cater for all children from Year 0 - 8 and provide a very wide and varied curriculum.

We have 10 modern classrooms, fitted with interactive whiteboards and teachers have the facility to use a sound field microphone system.

Te Aro School children come from all over Wellington and a great deal of importance is placed on the partnership that exists between home and school. Parents are welcome and encouraged to join in with school and classroom activities.

The school operates an enrolment scheme to ensure that children in our catchment area have a place in our classes and class numbers do not get too high. We do consider all out of zone enrolment enquiries and numbers permitting accept them. We are also able to consider offering places to international students as we are a signatory to the Code.

To complement the NZ National Curriculum our school provides a wide range of other programmes including kapa haka; Mandarin language lessons and Chinese cultural classes; Technicraft for our senior students; music tuition; school band; choir, Enviro group and participation in number of school sporting teams.

We provide a safe, positive and nurturing environment where everyone is valued and respected. Here at Te Aro School we promote the use of first names for all staff, children and adults.

Te Aro School is situated up on The Terrace below Victoria University and the Cuba St/ Aro Valley communities allow us to access many fantastic city activities and resources. Due to our close relationship with the university, past pupils of Te Aro School can apply for two first year scholarships at Victoria University at the conclusion of their secondary schooling.

We welcome all new families to our school and we hope the information on this website is of help to you. Please look for the link to our school information booklet. Latest newsletter.

If you are interested in enrolling your children at Te Aro School please e-mail our office administrator at office@tearo.school.nz
