| Kia ora everyone Welcome to you all, especially our new families starting at Te Aro in 2010. This year is again a year of educational change with the implementation of the National Standards beginning in February. The school has positvely embraced the new curriculum which is proving to be very progressive and suits Te Aro School very well. We are hopeful that the National Standards prove to be as worthwhile for the children at our school and I'm sure our positive and focused approach will ensure the best outcomes for everyone. . The integration of te reo Maori across the school and the introduction of the teaching of Chinese Studies from year 3-8 are two exciting new ventures at Te Aro that are working very well. We welcome our Chinese language assistant Dongyan from Shanghai to Te Aro in term 3 who will be assisting our mandarin programme. We continue to develop our own Te Aro School Inquiry Learning model which was introduced successfully in 2009 and the use of interactive whiteboards in all classes continues to prove to be a great tool for teaching and learning and student engagement. As always if you have any questions, queries or feedback please give me a call or make a time to come and see me . I am always available to work with you to make Te Aro a school where your children feel valued, safe and achieve to their full potential in all academic, sporting and social pursuits. Ka kite ano
