Xin Nian Kuai Le
Happy New Year The summer holidays have flown by. I do hope you and your family enjoyed a relaxing break together and found some sun during the festive season or during January. My family and I had our first Christmas at home in eleven years. It was just lovely being out on our deck on Christmas morning soaking up the sun and then enjoying a walk along Island Bay beach before Christmas lunch. Over the holidays I enjoyed getting out in my garden, reading lots and spending time with both friends and family. I really enjoyed having my Mum down from Auckland and bringing her up to see the school for the first time. The teaching staff have been meeting together in their syndicates and as a staff team to plan for the start of the new school year. Behind the scenes Gail, and Simi and his cleaning team have been getting the school ready for the children returning. Over January I read and considered carefully the parent, whanau, staff and student feedback I received at the end of my first term as principal last year. The feedback I received on what we are currently doing well and what we need to strengthen as a school has helped me shape our annual plan and will support the development of the school’s next three year strategic plan. This term is shaping up to be a busy one for us all with most classes booked in for swimming lessons; the seniors going to camp at Camp Kaitoke; and the school community having an increased presence at the Aro Valley Community Centre’s March Market Day. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or queries that you have about the school or feedback which you would like to share with myself, the staff group and/or the Board of Trustees. As a staff group we continue to work together to create and maintain a learning environment where your children feel valued, safe and are able to achieve to their full potential in all academic, sporting and social pursuits.
